Drifting (Shuta Yasukochi Rework)

Tokyo-based ambient & sound artist Shuta Yasukochi presents a delicate reinterpretation of Drifting, the melancholic piece by French neoclassical composer Jonathan Fitas — whose original track is approaching one million streams across platforms.

Adding layered modular synths, processed guitars and a vibrant, wide mix, the rework expands the emotional horizon of the original while preserving its quiet, peaceful essence.

Jonathan and Shuta first met during the Noor Riyadh 2022 Festival in Saudi Arabia, where both were composing music for separate immersive artworks. Their shared sensitivity for atmospheric, introspective sound quickly led to a musical connection — Jonathan emerging as a distinctive voice of the French neoclassical scene, and Shuta as a recognised figure of the Japanese ambient landscape.
